State-by-State Visualizations of Key Demographic Trends From the 2020 Census

The U.S. Census Bureau today released 52 individual data profiles on America Counts highlighting the recent 2020 Census Redistricting Data (Public Law 94-171) Summary File release.

These sharable data-rich state profiles are available for all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and feature data visualizations that include population, housing, race, ethnicity, diversity and age data. Each profile provides key demographic characteristics of each state and county on one page.

State Profiles

State Population Estimates

What states are the most populous? Find out using the December 2015 release from the  Census Bureau entitled "Annual Estimates of the Resident Population for the United States, Regions, States, and Puerto Rice: April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2015 (NST-EST2015-01." The publication includes the following note:

The estimates are based on the 2010 Census and reflect changes to the April 1, 2010 population due to the Count Question Resolution program and geographic program revisions. New State and Business Databases from GODORT

The American Library Association's (ALA) Government Documents Roundtable (GODORT) has created two notable new sections on its wiki. The State Agency Database Across the Fifty States (and the District of Columbia) is an ongoing effort to locate in one place all publicly accessible state agency databases. Also, to initiate the single-subject collections part of the wiki, Ka-Neng Au of the Rutgers University Libraries has shared a Company Research Guide that includes state corporations links for the 50 states in addition to a wide variety of international and special-topic business databases.
